Surrealism Art
The latest peace of art that we did in our class is called surrealism. Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for its visual artworks and writings. It is where you just insert all sorts of random things into your artwork. As you can see, I have a pac-man barfing up a rainbow into a pot of gold with a leprechaun standing next to it. In our surrealism we needed to incorporate plants, animals, and architecture. There are random plants floating in nowhere with a ladybug above the pac-man. The buildings are colourful and the background is colourful as well.
Hockey Is Back!
It lasted 113 days and now it is history. The 2012-13 NHL lockout angered many National Hockey League fans but now with the NHLPA (National Hockey League Players Association) and the owners coming to an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement, the fans anger dies just a little bit. Many are still upset with the fact that it took so long to come to an agreement. The shortened 48 game season will officially start on Thursday January 19 with the Winnipeg Jets taking on the Ottawa Senators at 3:00pm in Winnipeg. The Toronto Maple Leafs will take on the Montreal Canadians. This deal was reached after a marathon 16 hour bargaining session. I am personally happy that the NHL is back because then there is now another major sporting event that can be watched all around the world. Leave a comment telling me about your favorite NHL hockey team.
Russel Wilson and the Seahawks lay a Beat-down on the Bills in Toronto.
For the second straight week, Russel Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, Golden Tate and the Seattle Seahawks have put up 50 or more points. Last week the Seahawks beat down on Arizona 58-0 and this week, the Bills were the victim. The NFL Toronto season ended its 2012 campaign with a 50-17 butt whopping courtesy of the Seattle Seahawks. Russel Wilson lit up the Bills D not only through the air, but on the ground as well. He ran for 3 of Seattle’s touchdowns. He also went 13/23 for 205 yards and a passing touchdown. Marshawn Lynch led the way for the Seahawks on the ground with 10 carries for 113 yards and a touchdown. His longest run was for 54 yards. Sidney Rice led Seattle in receiving for the day as he caught 4 passes for 76 yards. The Seahwaks are major contenders in the NFC as they look for a Super Bowl Title this year. The Seahawks will take on the 49ers from San Francisco fresh of a victory over Tome Brady and the New England Patriots The only bright spot for the Bills would have been the halftime show, where PSY performed his smash hit, Gangnam Style.
Changes I Would Like To See In 2013
There are many things that I want to see changed in the year 2013. Some of the things that I want to see changed are the end of the teacher strike in Ontario so we can have school sports back, the end of the NHL lockout, to end the violence in third world countries such as Syria and Egypt, end the violence such as school shooting’s in all parts of the world. Another thing that I want to see changed would be that whenever a country is hurt by a natural disaster like a tsnami, an earthquake, or floods, I would like to see more countries in the world step in to help. That would help the world a whole lot more. Thoase are the things that I want to see changed in the world in 2013.
Panthers Rout the Chargers with Second W in a Row
In San Diego California, on December 16th 2012, the Chargers game in to the game, they thought that they had a pretty good chance to steal away a win from the 5-9 Carolina Panthers seeing as though the Chargers were also 5-9. Man did they ever think wrong. The Panthers pretty much ran away with the game after putting up 21 point in the first quarter alone. The Chargers just couldn’t find a way to score. The Panthers added a field goal in the second and went into the locker room at the half up on the Chargers, 24-0. When the third quarter started the result was pretty much the same as the second quarter. The Panthers scored another touchdown to head into the fourth with a 31-0 lead. The Chargers finally got on the scoreboard with a touchdown late in the fourth and but that wouldn’t be enough as the Panthers ran away with this one 31-7. It just seemed like everything clicked yesterday for the team from Carolina. Cam Newton went 19/33 for 231 yards and 2 touchdowns. Steve Smith led the Panthers in receiving with 6 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers are one of my favorite NFL teams, I knew as soon as they drafted Cam Newton last year that things would start to turn around. Which NFL team is your favorite? Leave a comment below telling me which one.

Rio 2014
In 2010, a classic was held in South Africa. The world cup drew world wide attention with all vuvuzelas and all the passionate fans who showed up. The last world cup final saw the Netherlands take on the Spanish national team. The match saw a flurry of yellow cards with some red cards thrown in there and a final score of 1-0 in favour of Spain. Spain scored in the 116th minute of extra time when Spanish striker Andrés Iniesta beat the dutch keeper with a powerful strike. That was Spain’s first World Cup victory and later on, in 2012, Spain struck gold once again! They won the UEFA Euro 2012 championship as well! Now that Spain has won World Cup gold and Euro gold, can they repeat as World Cup champions in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in 2014. We will have to wait and find out. Spain has already begun World Cup Qualifying as they were put in Group 1 of the qualifying groups. This will be the second time that Brazil will host the Cup the first being back in 1950. This will also be the first time two consecutive World Cups are staged outside Europe and the first time two consecutive World Cups are staged in the Southern Hemisphere. Twelve different cities in Brazil will host matches. Usually FIFA only allows 8-10. I can’t wait for the tournament to get started but we will still have to wait a nother year. Please leave a comment about who you want to win the 2014 world cup being held Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Patriots Get The Better of The Texans On Monday Night
On Monday December 10th, another Monday night classic was aired on TSN. The New England Patriots made the Houston Texans look like they were a peewee football on Monday. After two quarters the Pats were up 21-0 on the 11-1 Texans. The Pats took the game 42-14. Which was very unsuspected from a team full of amazing athletes. The Texans D came into the game with their star up front in J.J Watt. Better known as J.J Swatt because of the number of passes batted down this year . Heading into the game Watt had 15 passes batted down! That is one less than the entire Baltimore Ravens team! Although the Texans had the “Swatt” Patrol up in the trenches, they couldn’t do anything about the well orchastrated Patriots offense. Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady went 21/35 with 296 yards passing and 4 passing touchdowns. Please leave a comment with the name of your favorite NFL team! Thanks!!
Manchester United Gets the Better of Manchester City in the Derby
On Sunday December 9th , crosstown rivals Manchester United and Manchester City took part in another thrilling Manchester Derby. The Manchester derby is a soccer match played betwee the two clubs from Manchester and is what some would call a traditional game. This year Man. United got the win over City 3-2. This top of the table match featured defending Premier Leauge champs Man City go down early in the 16th minute when Ashley Young slid a pass in to Wayne Rooney and he struck the ball into the net. Then it was almost as if it was written perfectly. Wayne Rooney scored his 150th Premier League goal giving United a 2-0 lead. After a United goal was call of because of an offside, City broke into the United end and after two chances on goal, Yaya Touré potted one for City. Now we have a game. For the next 10 to 15 minutes or so, United had few scoring opportunities as City pressed to get back into the match. The tying goal came in the 86th minute when Robin Van Persie’s headed clearance from a corner kick went straight to Pablo Zabaleta on the edge of the penalty area, and he drove the half-volley into the net. With the score at two a piece, it was only fitting that the former Arsenal star nets the winner. During the extra time frame after United defender Rafael Da Silva was fouled by Carlos Tevez, Van Persie took the free kick and placed it perfectly in the net in the third minute of stoppage time. 3-2 Manchester United. United wins the derby after being blown out by City at home in last year’s derby 6-1. Since both teams were eliminated from Champions Leauge contention, their main focus is on winning the Premier Leauge and the FA Cup. Leave a comment below, do you like Manchester United or Manchester City, or any other Premier Leaague Team.
